James is Co-founder and CIO of HiddenLayer, a cybersecurity startup dedicated to preventing adversarial machine learning attacks, where he oversees the research team responsible for investigating novel attacks against ML/AI. James has spent the past decade in numerous research roles, including malware threat research at Cylance/BlackBerry, where he was responsible for reverse engineering malware, defining threat classification taxonomies, and working closely with data scientists to advance the company’s flagship antivirus product. More recently, he has been working on both Agari’s and Qualys’ data science teams, primarily focused on their Business Email Compromise and Endpoint Detection and Response initiatives, respectively. James holds a BS in Business Administration from Park University. James lives in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with his wife Melissa, daughter Audrey, and son Brayden.
